Deuteronomy on Prosperity

Deuteronomy 28: 1-14. [With metaphysical annotations in brackets, using modern language.]

1. And if you shall hearken diligently to the voice of the Lord Your God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you on high above all the nations of the Earth; [Choose to heed your inner voice and you will benefit greatly.]

2. And all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall hearken to the voice of the Lord Your God. [You will achieve success when you listen and act.]

3. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. [You will benefit everywhere.]

4. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, the bearing of your cattle, the increase of your herds, and the flocks of your sheep. [Your efforts will pay off.]

5. Blessed shall be your breadbasket and your dough. [You will have plenty of good food.]

6. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. [You will be happy at home and loved by others.]

7. The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to surrender defeated before you; they shall come out against you by one way, and flee before you by seven ways. [All naysayers will be scattered away and will not prevail over you.]

8. The Lord shall command blessings upon you in your storehouses, and in all that you put your hand to; and he shall bless you in the land which the Lord Your God gives you. [You will acquire wealth.]

9. The Lord shall establish you a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you shall keep all the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. [Listen to your inner voice and be prosperous.]

10. And all the people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. [Others will look up to you and respect you.]

11. And the Lord shall enrich you in good things, in the fruit of your body and in the bearing of your cattle and in the fruit of the land of your ground, in the land in which the Lord swore to your father's to give you. [Trust that your ideas will come to fruition.]

12. The Lord shall open to you his good storehouse, the heaven, to give you rain to your land in its season; and he will bless all the works of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you. [You will be able to help others because you will be debt free.]

13. And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be on top only, and you shall not be beneath; if you will hearken to the commandments of the Lord Your God which I command you this day, to observe and to do them. [Your inner voice will empower you to be the leader of your entire domain.]

14. And you shall not turn aside from any of the commandments which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, and you shall not go after the Gentile gods, nor serve them. [Remember to focus, listen to your inner voice and don’t be distracted.]

The bottom line: “The commandments of the Lord Your God” [a statement found in Hebrew scripture] is equivalent to “Follow your inner guidance” [A common exhortation of modern metaphysics].
